Meet Sue

Sue's lifelong affection for dogs traces back to the cherished memories with her first Labrador during childhood. Her journey is a tale of compassion, learning, and a relentless pursuit of enriching the lives of dogs and their owners alike. From her early days of fostering surrendered dogs in Darwin to embracing the world of dog sports on the Sunshine Coast, Sue's path is a testament to her dedication to canine training and well-being.

Sue's experience in Darwin, fostering dogs and preparing them for rehoming, laid the foundation for her deep understanding of the importance of basic manners in facilitating a smooth transition to new homes. This early work not only showcased her love for dogs but also highlighted her commitment to ensuring they have the best start in their new lives.

The arrival of Mishka, Sue's Golden Retriever puppy, on the Sunshine Coast marked a new chapter in her life. Determined to raise a well-mannered, sociable dog, Sue delved into obedience training, which soon led her to the dynamic world of dog sports. Through Rally, Formal Obedience, Tricks, and Scent Work, Sue and Mishka embarked on a journey of discovery, competition, and an ever-growing desire to explore the most effective training methods that foster a strong, collaborative relationship between dog and handler.

The addition of Blaize, a working line Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, to her family introduced Sue to the challenges and joys of training a high-drive dog. Blaize's sharp mind and eagerness to work pushed Sue to further expand her knowledge and adapt her training approaches to meet the needs of more energetic and focused dogs.

Joining forces with Shannon and the Unleashed Dog Training team, Sue brings a wealth of experience and a philosophy that dog training is far from a "one size fits all" endeavor. Her approach is rooted in the belief that each dog-owner pair has unique experiences and goals. Sue is dedicated to helping others strengthen their bond with their dogs through the joy of learning and playing together, emphasizing that at the heart of training is the sheer delight of sharing life with a happy, well-trained dog.
